Essential Points on This Form

What is the purpose of the Georgia Name Reservation form?

The Georgia Name Reservation form allows individuals or businesses to reserve a specific name for their corporation or limited liability company (LLC) before officially registering it. This reservation ensures that no other entity can use the chosen name for a period of 30 days, providing time to prepare the necessary documents for incorporation or organization.

How much does it cost to reserve a name in Georgia?

The nonrefundable filing fee for reserving a name in Georgia is $25. This fee must be submitted with the Name Reservation Request form. Payments can be made via check, cashier's check, or money order made out to the Office of Secretary of State. Alternatively, if you choose to reserve a name online, you can pay using a credit card or ACH transfer.

What happens if the name I want is not available?

If the requested name is not available, you will receive a rejection notice via telephone, email, or U.S. mail. This notice will inform you of the unavailability and provide instructions for submitting a new request without incurring an additional fee. You can submit a different name choice within 10 days of receiving the rejection notice, and the original $25 fee will still apply.

Can I renew my name reservation?

Name reservations cannot be renewed. They expire after 30 days. However, you have the option to reserve the name again for another $25, provided the name is still available. It is important to act quickly if you wish to secure the name again after the initial reservation period ends.
